Michaela Schwarz-Weismann

*1973   lives and works in Vienna

The artist studied architecture and design with Wilhelm Holzbauer, Paolo Piva and Borek Sipek at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna; Master's degree at the Royal College of Art, London (painting). As a painter, Schwarz-Weismann captures the most detailed structures in order to spatially arrange them generously and at the same time precisely. These works have a conceptual background and are often accompanied by performative and installation works, which are are sharply analyzed and just as executed shortages. As a result, the artist succeeds in directing one's gaze to socially relevant dimensions through the intimate. The private is and remains political in her works, according to the motto, it concerns us all, it can manifest itself as longing, but above all a lot should be rethought and seen.
