Micha Wille

*1978   lives and works in Vienna

Wille studied theoretical syntax in Vienna and painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and at Central Saint Martins College in London. Exhibitions at home and abroad. Willes mostly large-format, figurative works combine the meaning-generating systems of language and painting and never just constitute a reference / denotation to a single extra-linguistic reality, but also the contemporary mess to the point of total confusion. It's crazy how Wille shakes our images of life: pseudo closeness and lack of distance from Reality-TV, stress, alienation, humor and trivialities that make you nervous. No anti-discourses are created here, but those that can keep pace with the dilemma. (Aasta Topper)

Discover our Collection

Discover the almost 1,200 works in our constantly growing collection in our online database. In the future, the collection will be expanded primarily through the purchases of current contemporary art associated with the art prizes. However, the jury will also recommend annual purchases to the Board of Directors to supplement the existing holdings of recent Tyrolean art history.
