Bernd Oppl

*1980   lives and works in Vienna

He studied at the Art University in Linz and the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. "In my work I investigate the question of the spaces in which we move: in foreign and self-made, in real and virtual architectures, in external and internal, in physical and psychological spaces. What social changes and technologies are used for to shape and influence these spaces. When do new spatial forms appear or disappear again from our lives. Rooms are usually containers for life situations. Life takes place in the rooms. In my objects and installations, the rooms themselves become protagonists and begin to tell of their own accord what happens or does not happen in them." (Oppl)

Discover our Collection

Discover the almost 1,200 works in our constantly growing collection in our online database. In the future, the collection will be expanded primarily through the purchases of current contemporary art associated with the art prizes. However, the jury will also recommend annual purchases to the Board of Directors to supplement the existing holdings of recent Tyrolean art history.
